Donation Information for Furniture & Household Items

How to Donate Furniture

There are two ways to donate furniture and household items.

  1. You can drop them off at our location during our open hours. 
  2. You can pay for a pickup time where we will pick the items up from you.
Review the options below and the steps to complete them. If you have questions, please contact our office.

Option 1: Drop Off Donations

  1. To donate furniture by dropping items off at our facility, drop your items off during our open hours.
  2. As of December, 2023, our drop off hours are: Monday-Friday 9:00 am – 3:30 pm and Saturdays 9:00 – 11:30 am.
  3. Please do not drop items off when we are closed for donation drop off.
  4. If you have an item that you are not sure if we can take, please email us at volunteers@furnituremission.org.

Option 2: Schedule a Donation Pickup

  1. To schedule a pickup of items at your home, please use the Schedule a Pickup buttons below to pay and pick a date for pickup. We have four buttons that correspond to the time of day you wish to book and part of town you are in (East or West of Minnesota Avenue)
  2. If you have an item that you are not sure we will accept, please email us at volunteers@furnituremission.org prior to scheduling the pickup. 
  3. Please use the buttons below to schedule a pick up of your donations. 
    • If you live WEST of Minnesota Avenue, please choose the Westside button and choose the morning or afternoon option. 
    • If you live EAST of Minnesota Avenue, please choose the Eastside button and choose the morning or afternoon option. 
    • PLEASE NOTE we only do pickups in Sioux Falls, Brandon, Harrisburg and Tea. If you live outside of these locations and have a sizeable donation, please call us at 605-977-6800 to schedule a pickup.

    Please read the following before scheduling a pickup:

    1. Please note that there is a non-refundable $50 donation fee for pickups. Cancellations of scheduled and paid pickups are not refunded, although you can reschedule without paying the donation fee again.
    2. We cannot take large appliances, entertainment centers, hutches, baby furniture, head/foot boards, wooden box floor frames, desks, or box TVs. If you are unsure if we can take an item, please call us at 605-977-6800 or you can complete the donation information form and upload a picture (use button above).
    3. Our volunteers cannot enter your home. Items should be ready for pick up in a garage, a main floor lobby or outside. We also cannot have volunteers accessing stairs.
    4. All items must be from smoke-free and cat-free homes, and free of rips, tears or stains.
    5. If you choose a morning time for your pick up (9 am), your pick up will occur between 9 am and 12 noon. If you choose an afternoon time (1 pm), your pick up will occur between 1 pm and 4 pm. 
    6. Donation Pickup Schedule:  
      • Pickups are available on the Eastside on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons and Wednesday mornings.
      • Pickups are available on the Westside on Tuesday and Thursday mornings and Wednesday afternoons.
